We will be designing bridges this week. We have looked at many different types of bridges and discussed the importance of building a bridge properly. Iowa Core 2-PS1-3, K-2 ETS-1, K-2-ETS-3. We will be using material (cereal boxes) to make another object, a bridge. The students will test the strength and weakness of their bridges too. Below are some ideas they have come up with.
We also looked at the bridge in Tacoma that collapsed in the forties. After viewing this clip the students realized the importance of using the proper materials so the bridge is safe!
We have plenty of cereal boxes. We could still use some more paper towel tubes, toilet paper rolls and even the tubes from wrapping paper.
