April News

The end of the year is approaching quickly and we have so much to get accomplished.  Please continue to check Class DOJO as I do post important dates on there.  I have kind of neglected my blog due to communicating through Class DOJO.  Now that I have my blog linked through the Chariton Community School District site it will be easier for you to get to without typing in the blog address every time.

I am so happy to tell everyone that my Donors Choose project was fully funded.  Our class received three more mini-i-pads and two comfortable chairs to sit in while reading.  So very thankful to all who supported our classroom.

As most of you know we are working toward 105 cwpm as our end of the year fluency goal for second grade.  We need to reach our goal or make a years growth.  A years growth would be a 46 word growth from the beginning of the year to the end.  For example, if your child read 87 words at the beginning of the year, I would expect them to be reading (87 + 46, years growth), which would be 133 cwpm by the end of the year.

I will be posting expectations for MAP scores soon.  We will be testing around the first week of May. This gives us around 3 weeks before testing is here upon us!  Please make sure you are listening to your child read and help them with any extra practice that is sent home.  Some of  the students are still struggling with coin recognition and telling time.

Thank you for all your support this year!
